In his book, David reveals this was one of the most difficult drawings he's done. He explains how he wanted to capture the setting as well as the character of the leopard in the drawing. So the tree was very important to this image, and the detail in the tree is so perfect it looks real.
Anticipation sold out very quickly when it was released. With the leopard’s eyes wide open and looking straight out, David has also drawn the fur so lifelike you might almost reach out and pat the leopard.
