"I have always believed that whatever subject an artist is illustrating he should always endeavor to show things as they really are. There are too many pictures painted every year of animals made to look cosmetically perfect. Very uninformed poses, often lack the true behavior of each species. I wanted the ears to look this way as the animal would sit with rotating ears depicting its moods just like a domestic cat."
