The sea turtle hatchling is one of the most vulnerable creatures in the ocean. Born on the sandy beaches of tropical and subtropical regions, sea turtle hatchlings face a perilous journey from the moment they hatch to the time they reach the safety of the ocean.
The journey from the nest to the ocean is a treacherous one for sea turtle hatchlings. They have to navigate their way through the sand to reach the ocean, avoiding obstacles such as rocks and debris. The hatchlings use the light of the moon to guide them to the ocean, but artificial lights from nearby buildings and streets can disorient them, leading them in the wrong direction. This can be fatal, as they may end up on a road or in a predator's territory. Sea turtle hatchlings are also vulnerable to predators such as crabs, birds, and other animals that prey on them.
